Reid State Park, Georgetown, Maine
We love everything about Georgetown, Maine and this park is no exception! It is huge! There is ample parking and the gate is open in the off season so you can drive all the way down to the beach and park.
Location
When I typed in the address to Reid State Park in my phone it brings you down the correct road, but it says “you’ve arrived” when you are at someone’s house. Just go a little further down the road, maybe a quarter mile, and you will see the entrance. I’m not sure why it does that and it might seem obvious to people, but I just wanted to mention it!
Fees and hours
I love that all Maine State Parks are reasonably priced to enter and it is so easy to know the fees ahead of time on their website. I will link that below! To enter here it is $6 for a Maine adult, $8 for a non-Maine resident adult. It is free for kids under 5 and ages 5-11 are $1.
It is open from 9am-sunset daily. When we visited in the winter there were signs posted that it closed at sunset, which is early in winter, obviously, so just be aware of that!
Different areas to explore
After you drive past the gate you can go left or right. Both bring you to a large parking lot with bathrooms located near the beach. When we visited in February of 2024, the area to the left was closed due to storm damage. According to their website they will update when it’s all cleared and ready to enter, so I will link it below! We took the right and went down the road to the beach. There are A LOT of fun climbing rocks here along the coast. There was also a lot of driftwood that the kids loved climbing on. Besides climbing, the beach here is beautiful! It is very big and according to their website people love to surf here. I can totally see why, the waves are pretty big. The beach is in between both bathrooms and parking lots. I don’t think it matters if you take a left or right when first entering the park, but some people who are more familiar with the park might have a different opinion (let me know if you know!).
Bathrooms, Grills, picnic tables
You could easily spend the whole day here! The bathrooms are located right next to the parking lots and there’s a small trail down to the beach. There are small charcoal grills and picnic tables dispersed throughout.
Dogs not allowed from April 1st- September 30th
You might be visiting here while you’re on vacation, but make sure you don’t bring your dog. In the off season you can bring a dog on a leash here.
