Camp Waukewan, Meredith, NH
This adorable 2 bedroom cottage on Lake Waukewan in Meredith, NH was a perfect weekend getaway for my family of 5! The cottage has everything you could possibly need, it’s just a short drive to the shops in Meredith, and it is just steps away from the lake!
Sleeping Arrangements
There’s two bedrooms here, which is all we need with 3 kids. One bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has two queen beds. It worked out perfectly for us because the kids love sharing a bed with us when we travel. (I’m always more tired after vacations with the kids, but it’s always worth it!) The beds are SO comfortable, like 100% more comfortable than our beds at home and I was actually sad to leave them. It’s been over 10 years since we upgraded our mattress and it is definitely time for a new one!
Dog Friendly cottage
Our dog loves a vacation too! She was crying with excitement as we arrived at the house and she didn’t even know what she was excited about! The owner has a dog and she really thought of everything to make it comfortable traveling with your dog. We forgot a runner for our dog when we were outside and it was there. There were extra leashes and bags to clean up your dogs mess. Also two sizes of dog water and food bowls for large and small dogs!
Amenities
I can’t possibly mention everything this house has to offer because there is just so much!
Kitchen: The kitchen is fully stocked, with everything from olive oil and spices to an air fryer! There’s a blender, crock pot, coffee machine and toaster oven. Plus every kitchen tool you could need including large bowls, all the pots and pans and saran wrap and tin foil. We cooked a soup for dinner and forgot wrap to cover it and there was luckily some there!
Bathroom: In addition to the kitchen being stocked, the bathroom also had everything including soaps, shampoo and conditioner, hair ties and containers for storing contacts in case you forgot yours!
Laundry room: I LOVE traveling with a washer and dryer in the house. I did a load of wash the second night we were there and it saved me time when we got home, I didn’t have a ton of laundry to do. There was plenty of detergent to use!
Fire pit: There’s a beautiful fire pit outside and there was firewood! We brought our own because we didn’t know there was so much firewood, but it’s a huge bonus!
Beach gear: Something I found really helpful was the large tote bag in the guest closet with 5 large beach towels in it. The kids went in the lake and it was so nice to have those towels and not have to worry about packing my own. There are also three floats that the kids liked bringing down to the lake to float on!
You really don’t have to pack anything extra besides your own clothes and shoes and that was really nice!!
The Lake
The cottage itself is not directly on Lake Waukewan. It is, however, in a small association, so there is a shared beach. The walk to the beach and the lake is just a 5 minute walk on a quiet dirt road. We enjoyed the walk on the way to the lake, but the walk back was rough as they were wet! The third time we went down to the lake I drove and there was plenty of room to park. It was the end of September when we visited, so of course they were cold walking back from the lake! It wasn’t that warm out!
Things to do around Meredith
I’m not even going to get into all there is to do because the host has guides on her Instagram of local things to do in each season! At the cabin, as well, is a small book of so many different things to do in the area! We went to a local farm, at the recommendation of the host, and had a great morning! The name of the farm was Beans and Greens in Gilford, NH. There was a corn maze, fresh cider donuts and coffee and a small play area for kids with a large bouncy pad that they loved. We then drove back to Meredith for lunch at the Town Docks Restaurant, which was beautiful! This isn’t even close to how much the area has to offer!
Be sure to follow @campwaukewan on Instagram and check out the host’s guides of the area to make your stay even better!
