Camden Hills State Park

camden hills state park with kids

Camden Hills State Park, Camden, Maine

I can’t possibly cover all that Camden Hills State Park has to offer! I’m going to link their website down below so check that out if you are planning a visit. We had a fun morning here driving to the top to enjoy the views and our picnic that we packed! It is a very easy visit with kids.

fees and hours

Like the Maine State Parks, the resident fee for adults is $4 and the non-resident adult fee is $6. Kids aged 5-11 are $1 and under 5 are free.

According to the website, the park is open year round. You pay the fee at the self-service station at the entrance. From Nov 1- May 1 the road up to the top, Mount Battie Road, might be closed due to snow, but that will be posted on their website I linked below.

Hiking trails or drive up to the top

We loved this visit because you can drive up a paved road to the top and enjoy the sweeping views of the ocean, many of Maine’s islands and Camden harbor. There is plenty of parking at the top and spots to sit and put a blanket down and have a picnic. We also walked a little down a trail in the woods before turning back around so they could have lunch. We are just not a big hiking family! Linked below is a link to the website that has all of the hiking trails detailed.
