Quarry Brook, A Hipcamp located in Southern Vermont
I have searched everywhere for another dome like this one but there just aren’t any around here so you have to check this place out! This place was so beautiful, clean, and warm when we stayed for New Year’s Eve 2024. It was 20-30 degrees out over night and with the wood stove going inside it stayed between 60-65 degrees. The hosts had all of the basics you could need, the bed was so comfortable (especially the cozy comforter) and it is dog friendly! There are a few things to do in the area, but we didn’t do any exploring and loved to just enjoy the dome and relax! Linked below is the site and they have some recommendations or nearby activities.
Pack less
When we camp we pack SO much. I don’t even know how to pack less! We just finally got a Thule for the top of our SUV and a cargo carrier for the back (thank you to our parents!) and I have no idea how we camped without that extra storage! We also started taking our dog and she takes up so much room, so I think that’s how we got away with zero storage before. What’s nice about this dome and Hipcamp is that they have so much already and you can pack a lot less! They have an outdoor propane 2 burner stove on a picnic table. There was plenty of firewood and 2 chairs around the fire. There are plenty of outdoor utensils and some bowls and cups. The queen bed is really comfortable so you don’t have to bring a bed or even sheets or blankets! The hosts even included things like a couple extra batteries and a roll of paper towels. Outside the dome is a small outhouse with toilet paper. All of these added things really helps because it is a short walk through the woods from the parking area. There is a wagon that is provided that definitely helps!
Extra bonuses
There is electricity in the dome which is an added bonus! The string lights make it so cozy inside and since we were there for New Year’s Eve, it got dark early and we needed those lights. It would have felt dark in a tent. There is an outhouse right next to the dome, but there is no running water or showers. Quarry Brook also allows dogs! We have loved camping with our dog and she loves it too. The owners do have their own dog that came over and roamed around but was very friendly! Just a heads up so it doesn’t startle you like it startled us as the dog was staring at us. The dog was much more friendly than our dog though and loved just walking around and saying hi!
