Doubling Point Lighthouse

Doubling Point Lighthouse

Doubling Point Lighthouse, Arrowsic, Maine

UPDATE: Doubling Point Lighthouse is closed to visitors! I’m not sure when it will be open again. I believe they are fixing this walkway to the lighthouse as seen in the pictures. I’m hoping it opens up again and I will update it here when I know more!

February 2023: This small lighthouse is very picturesque Maine to me. It is located in Arrowsic, ME and I love this area of Maine! It was my second attempt to get there and it was well worth it! The road to the lighthouse is a dirt road and the first time I went I either totally missed the small signs indicating where the lighthouse was or they weren’t there. This time it was much easier! We went on a cloudy February morning before having lunch in Bath so there was no one there. There’s not too much to do at the actual lighthouse but it is really so beautiful so it was a nice visit.

Parking

There are only about 5 or 6 parking spots at Doubling Point Lighthouse and it is free to park. The house that is there is a private residence and that was empty in the off season so it was a nice, quiet visit.

Bring snacks or lunch

After an hour and a half in the car of 3 kids going wild the destination was worth it. Like always, I fed them a snack when we got there and we walked around for about 30 minutes. There was a small path in the woods we walked through before getting back in the car for a 10 minute drive to downtown Bath.

Bathrooms

There’s no bathroom here but since it is a quick visit hopefully the kids can hold it until you stop in Bath. We always pack the small toddler potty for car and beach trips though so it was already in our car.

Things to do in the area

Downtown Bath, Maine is adorable and for a Friday in February almost everything was open. We got lunch at Bath Brewing Company which was very kid friendly. My kids were a bit rambunctious but the staff were so nice and understanding!

While writing the word rambunctious for this I googled it’s meaning to make sure I used it correctly… it is defined as “full of energy and difficult to control or handle” which is EXACTLY what I was going through. I was very thankful I had my mom there to help me on this trip! She bribed them with a small toy after (being the nice grandmother she is) so we went to Reny’s and the selection of toys was actually huge and overwhelming for the kids but so many things to choose from! I wish I could’ve stayed longer and shopped for myself or my husband for clothes!
