Kittery, Maine
We love Kittery and the walk around downtown Kittery is perfect with kids! Parking downtown is free for two hours and there’s sidewalks for easy walking. There are a few great restaurants downtown Kittery you should check out. We love Black Birch, Anju and Festina Lente! We rarely go out to dinner though and coffee shops are more my thing, so I highly recommend a stop at Lil’s Cafe before your walk.
Parking
If you put Lil’s Cafe into your GPS there is a small parking lot right next to it. It is also next to The Juicery (a smoothie and juice bar). It is not clearly labeled on the maps app, but it is on the corner of Government Street and Walker Street, it is called Wallingford Square. If you are going to walk though, I’d recommend you park your car on either Government Street or Walker Street. That way it leaves the lot for people who need to run into one of the shops downtown for something quick. The street parking is also free!
The Walk
I don’t have specific recommendations for this walk. There are a lot of side streets you can walk around or you could walk across Memorial Bridge to Portsmouth. We just recently did that walk and grabbed a treat and coffee at Lil’s first. We parked near Lil’s and then walked over the bridge towards Portsmouth and back and it is about a 2 mile walk. It is all sidewalks and mostly flat. It’s beautiful on a nice day!
