Downtown Ogunquit, ME walk

Downtown Ogunquit playground walk with kids

Quick downtown walk through Ogunquit, Maine with a visit to the playground

My friend loves Ogunquit and she really introduced me to it just a couple years ago! Now I am obsessed! I never went to Ogunquit growing up and hadn’t really explored it before the last two years, but now I feel confident walking around town! On a few occasions we’ve ventured further around town and walked down to the beach. That was a beautiful day! It’s further so we didn’t go onto the beach because I knew that they would all get wet and the walk back was a little too far.

Parking and fees

For the easiest trip I recommend parking in the parking lot located at 39 Cottage Street in Ogunquit. It is right next to the playground! During the summer months you have to pay to park and it is $4 an hour. There are always spots available in the morning but it does get busier in the afternoon. In the off season there is always parking available and it is free.

Grab a coffee and macaroons

We love the coffee shop called Mornings in Paris. It is a 0.3 mile walk to the coffee shop and they have great specialty coffee drinks. Their macaroons are so fun to get as a treat too! They are so colorful and the perfect little bite for the kids to eat. I always bring them their own snacks but this is a nice treat!

Playground

After getting a treat you can walk the 0.3 miles back to the playground. It’s all sidewalks and mostly flat. It really is such an easy walk on a nice day! The playground itself is small but it’s perfect! There are 2 slides, swings, 2 different structures for kids to climb on and a basketball court. It is all fenced in which is really nice too! We went to the playground one evening before going out to dinner in Ogunquit and the kids have never behaved so well at a restaurant! They got so much energy out they were more than happy to sit still at a restaurant and we loved it! It was nice to only have to park in one spot, enjoy the playground and then walk right to dinner!

The playground area is also really nice because it has picnic tables, some in the shade and a shaded gazebo. We like to have our snacks or a quick lunch there!
