Quick downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire walk
This is my go to walk with friends with kids! I have met so many friends for this walk during the week and we always have a great time! It is stroller friendly, parking is cheap, coffee is close by and the kids can play at the park! Most of the time this walk takes about 2 hours. It obviously can be longer if you walk over to Peirce Island and go to the playground, but if you are looking for a quick morning activity with a friend this is perfect!
Parking and fees
Parking is so easy! We park at the parking lot at 67 State Street in Portsmouth, NH. It costs just under $2 an hour and I’ve downloaded the ParkMobile app to make it easy to just pull up and pay for parking while I’m still in the car with the kids buckled up. The map below has the address of this parking lot to show you where it is in Portsmouth.
Coffee shop and treats
From the parking lot I always head down the street to a coffee shop. I usually go to Kaffee Vonsolln. I love their coffee and there are cookies and muffins for the kids! It is very close, only a 0.2 mile walk to the coffee shop and back to the parking lot area. All the sidewalks are wide enough for strollers and wagons, so easy with a friend!
Prescott Park
From the parking lot to Prescott Park is only 0.1 miles. Everything is very close. There’s plenty of grassy areas for the kids to run around on but there’s also paved pathways for strollers. There’s small piers to walk down with benches on some, views of the water and views of Memorial Bridge. The kids love when they get to see the bridge going up to allow boats to go underneath! Prescott Park has two beautiful flower gardens to walk through. We usually then walk over to Peirce Island for the playground. That is a little further and from the parking lot to Pierce Island is about a 0.6 mile walk.
Peirce Island
We love Peirce Island, so that is its own post, linked below! But to touch on it quickly, there is a small playground, gravel walking paths, picnic tables, a park with ocean views and a very small beach area only accessible at low tide. But check out the blog post on that because there’s also plenty of parking there if you want to go just straight there!
