Nubble Lighthouse, York, Maine
Nubble Lighthouse in York is a beautiful lighthouse in between Longs Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach. It is a great spot to check out if you’re in Southern Maine with kids!
Parking
There is plenty of free parking here! I’ve been here a few times and I feel like a lot of people really only spend 15-30 minutes here. I’ve watched many cars drive in, park and look around and quickly leave. So if the parking lot is full, it won’t be long until people leave.
Coffee and Donuts
During the off season and times when I just have to get out of the house, we have gone for drives here just to sit in the car and have a car picnic. I have also picked up donuts at Lovebirds Donuts in Kittery, ME and driven here to enjoy our breakfast. Lovebirds is about a 15 min drive from Nubble Lighthouse but they have the best donuts in the area and it makes the morning more eventful and fun! They also have a large parking lot and coffee, so it’s an easy stop! It is also nice to not have to pack a picnic and just get in the car and go somewhere.
Bathrooms
There are seasonal bathroom facilities open. We always go in the off season and the trips are always quick so the kids have not had to use the bathrooms, but it is nice that one is available.
Climbing rocks
There are so many rocks around the parking lot along the water and the kids just can not help themselves from climbing on them! Some can be a little slippery though and these rocks make me more nervous to climb on then others, so make sure you use caution.
