Odiorne Point State Park

Odiorne Point State Park with kids

Odiorne Point State Park, Rye, New Hampshire

Odiorne is full of ocean views, a playground with ocean views, 2 lighthouses you can see, walking trails and the Seacoast Science Center. With all it has to offer it is definitely a great spot to visit with kids!

Parking and fees

The fee to get into the park is $4 for an adult, $2 for a child 6-11 years old and free for a child under 6. If you are planning your day and buy tickets ahead of time online for the Seacoast Science Center it will calculate your fee admission for the park and automatically add it to your bill. It made it so easy to drive in! There is plenty of parking near the playground and Seacoast Science Center to the right when you drive in. There is a fee to pay during the season at the gate. In the off season they ask you to deposit the fee into the self-service pay station or at the Seacoast Science Center. According to the website the season runs until November 12th. It doesn’t give an approximate date they open back up but it’s usually May.

Playground

There’s a great playground here! Plenty of swings, ocean views, right next to the bathrooms and cute whale and seal statues for the kids to climb on! If you are just going to the playground it is easy to bring a stroller and then walk around the walking paths by the ocean. The walk from the parking lot to the playground can feel a little far carrying a lot of things and kids if they aren’t walking much. So definitely bring a stroller if you have little kids! This playground gets pretty busy in the summer, I always get there first thing when it opens. Also if you go in the off season, it is less busy and my kids could ride their small bikes on the paved paths around the playground and along the ocean. I wouldn’t recommend bikes during the summer months though as it can be busy.

Bathrooms

Seasonal bathrooms are located right next to the playground, making it very easy for quick emergencies with kids!

Food truck

If you plan everything but don’t feel like packing a lunch, there is a food truck! It’s right next to the playground and then you can bring it to one of the many picnic tables by the ocean. My kids almost always have a nice lunch packed but sometimes it’s a lot getting everything AND everyone ready to get out of the house. I love having the option of a food truck here next to the playground. The food truck is Roots and they also have a café located in Newmarket, NH.

Lighthouse views

There are beautiful views of Whaleback Lighthouse here as Odiorne is directly across the water from Fort Foster.
