Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, New Harbor, Maine
This is one of my favorite lighthouses in Maine! I LOVE this whole area of Maine. I live in southern Maine and it’s beautiful and I love it, but if I could live anywhere else in Maine it would be around Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.
Location
Midcoast Maine has so many beautiful spots to visit! I’m still exploring and I feel like I just can’t get enough of it. From Bath, Maine up to Rockland, Maine there are SO many coastal towns that are so small and picturesque. We have vacationed in this area a couple times and have loved every second of it! This area has a lot of waterways separating towns so it takes awhile to get places. The drive never feels that long though because I love the scenery. From Boothbay, Maine this is about 42 minutes even though it looks like you could get there in 10 if you didn’t have water to get around.
THe park and things to do
The park itself offers stunning views and picnic tables all over to enjoy the views! There’s shady areas under beautiful big pine trees, gardens in the summer and mostly all mowed grass that is fun for kids to run. So even if you had a 45 minute drive to get here, it’s worth it!
There’s so much to do here. They have a cute museum of old fishing gear and maps to walk around in, you can climb up the lighthouse if you are taller than 46 inches, there is a gift shop and small restaurant AND an art gallery. They also have public bathrooms, of course.
A fun fact of this lighthouse is they actually rent out the room above the small museum, connected to the lighthouse. It’s called the Keeper’s House at the Treasured Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on VRBO. It’s only a double bed and a living room and you have to also be okay with the tourists, but it is very cute! Check it out!
Fees
Children under 4 are free, ages 5-11 are $1 and over 12 years old are $4. SO affordable. I love trips like this! I need more trips like this in my life. The prices of everything have gotten out of control so I really appreciate this being cheaper than my cup of coffee.
Things to do in the area
When we visited we went over to Fort William Henry after. It was a beautiful spot to check out too. On the way to Fort William Henry is Pemaquid Beach Park, so you could make a whole day out of all 3. Linked below are the blog posts to the other two places!
