Wagon Hill Farm, Durham, NH
Wagon Hill Farm has easy walking trails that lead to the water and free parking! It is a very easy morning activity with kids! After your walk, be sure to stop across the street at Emery Farm for coffee and breakfast treats or sandwiches for lunch!
Parking and bathrooms
There are 3 small parking lots here that are all free. I would imagine on a beautiful day they might be full, but I’ve been twice and they weren’t. As you drive in you will see parking on the left, but go up over the hill and fork left and that is where the other two lots are.
Bathrooms: There are porta-potties in the parking lot at the top of the hill
Some trails are wagon friendly
Once you park, you will see many different trails and paths you can take. All lead down towards the water and loop together so you can’t really get lost! Some of the trails (like the one to the right) are wagon friendly. I think they are a little too muddy for a stroller. But the trail that we took, which is right in the middle, had a small boardwalk through the woods and it was a little too rough for even a wagon. The kids insisted I carry them for a lot of this walk, so I was bummed I didn’t have the wagon, but also glad I didn’t for some of the paths through the woods.
I would recommend you bring a carrier for little legs instead of worrying about a wagon at all. It’s not a long walk, but just far enough that my kids complained about being tired.
We did the whole walk in 40 minutes. That included a snack break by the water at some picnic tables too! You can certainly walk more and stay longer than that!
Dog friendly
Dogs are allowed here all day! And before 10am they are allowed off leash. When we went at 9am there were SO many dogs off leash. It was a bit much, as dogs were running up to my kids while they were sitting eating snacks. So if your kids are a little nervous around dogs, wait until 10am to go!
Emery Farm
This morning walk with my friends and their kids was made even better by stopping at Emery Farm across the street. If you are leaving Wagon Hill and pulling out of the parking lot, take a left and you can see the entrance to Emery Farm on the right.
They have so much here! It’s a beautiful store and small shop for grocery items. There is a limited breakfast and lunch menu, but you can bring your food outside to eat and there are plenty of tables. There are also chickens, goats and a rabbit for the kids to check out!
We LOVED the frozen lemonade they have here after our summer walk!! Check out more info on Emery Farm HERE.
